Designed by Harley Earl, the Skylark was a limited production version of the Roadmaster series. With a lowered roof and chrome belt line, there were only 1,690 produced. Its sport appearance was enhanced with Kelsy-Hayes chrome wire wheels. This was Buick's 50th anniversary car. Of the 1,690 produced, only 500 were equipped with the rear mounted Continental kit. With a list price of $5,500 and the very limited production, they were immediately collectable. 1953 was the first year for the all-new "Fireball V-8".
